The 4PeteSake committee has changed my life in more ways than one. Not only did they raise the money to purchase my prosthetic, they also gave me a handcycle. Since the original fundraiser in 2005 I have been living very well. I have raced in 5 marathons, including New York City, L.A., Miami and Madison. I am currently training to compete in New York this November. I have also continued going to school and am slowly getting closer to graduating. I plan on studying psychology and I hope to work in a hospital someday while helping cancer patients adjust to a different lifestyle.
I am thankful for the life I have been able to live; the fact that I can walk again is enough to keep me satisfied. In my free time I continue to write and perform music with my brother, sister, Karl and Kyle in our band Fire Falls. My latest discovery in the world is white water kayaking. For the last two summers I have attended a whitewater kayaking camp in Montana, for young adult cancer survivors. Last but not least I look forward to seeing all of you on the 19th. I look forward to 4PeteSake more than any other day of the year!
